Family

You can receive a Green Card if you are:

• a child of a U.S. citizen
• a spouse of a U.S. citizen
• a parent of a U.S. citizen
• brother or sister of a U.S. citizen
• an unmarried child of a Green Card holder
• a spouse of a Green Card holder

Each category has its own wait time that can range from a few months to years.

In some categories, the wait time can be even longer for citizens of China, India, Mexico, and the Philippines because of the large number of immigrants from these countries.

Employment

A Green Card can be provided to you if you are:

• an alien with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics
• an outstanding professor or researcher
• a multinational manager and executive
• an alien who is a member of the professions holding advanced degrees or who have exceptional ability (including requests for national interest waivers)
• skilled worker, professional, or certain other worker

Each category has a list of specific requirements and conditions that must be met.

Investment

An investment Green Card is available under the EB5 category to individuals who are able to invest $1,050,000 in U.S.-based projects that would result in the creation of a minimum of 10 full-time jobs. If such projects are located in high unemployment or rural areas, the investment amount is reduced to $800,000.

As an EB5 investor, you can invest in your own project or you can invest in a large project run by EB5 Regional Centers along with other investors.

The most recent law called the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act of 2022 made a lot of changes to the immigration through investment process and provided additional benefits to the investors.
